Petaltrail Terms of Use (draft)

1. The Service

Petaltrail ("the Service") lets you build a personal plant guide from photos you take inside the app, and — if you choose — share them with other users on a map.

2. Accounts

• You must be 14 or older.
• Accounts are created through a social login or an email link.
• Do not use your real name or contact details as a nickname. Other users see it as written.

3. What you may post

Only photos taken inside the app are registered. Do not post:

• Anything that identifies a person — faces, licence plates, address signs
• Photographs of someone else's copyrighted work
• Photos unrelated to plants
• Anything unlawful or infringing on someone's rights

4. Rights in your photos

• You keep the copyright in your photos. The Service does not take it.
• By making a record public, you allow the Service to display that photo within the Service — in guides, on the map, in the hall of fame — and on public plant pages that anyone can open, to the extent needed to do so. You can opt out of the public plant pages on the *My* screen.
• Deleting the record ends that permission.
• The Service does not use your photos as advertising material or sell them to others. Pages that show your photos may also show ads.
• Photos are sent to PlantNet for identification. See section 3 of the Privacy Policy.

5. Identification results and plant names

• Identification results are for reference only. Automatic identification is often wrong, particularly for native plants in regions where reference data is thin.
• Do not use this Service to decide whether a plant is safe to eat or use as medicine. Some plants are dangerous if eaten. The Service accepts no responsibility for such use.
• Names in the guide are decided by user suggestions and votes, and may not be scientifically established names.

6. Other people's records

• You can suggest a correction to a misidentified record. Once the person who took the photo has settled it, only they can change it.
• You can report inappropriate photos and comments. Enough reports hide the item automatically, and an administrator can restore it.
• Do not misuse the report function.

7. Limits on use

• Identification requests are limited per account. The external identification service has a usage cap; if one person exhausts it, nobody else can use the Service that day.
• Do not access the Service by automated means or attempt to bypass its limits.

8. Changes and interruption

The Service is run by an individual. Features may change or stop without notice. Significant changes are announced inside the Service. Before any shutdown, a period will be allowed for downloading your data.

9. Liability

The Service is provided as-is. No warranty is given as to the accuracy of identification results, the continuity of the Service, or content posted by users. The operator remains liable for damage caused by wilful misconduct or gross negligence, to the extent applicable law provides.

10. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will say so inside the Service and ask you to agree again. The version you agreed to is recorded.
